Richard Broomhead is a retired Qantas pilot who lives near Noosa Heads in Queensland Australia.
At fourteen he moved to Papua New Guinea with his parents. After a chance meeting with ‘The King of the Western Isles’ he accepted the position of relieving manager for six months on a copra plantation in the remote islands. He stayed for two years, the adventure that is the basis for this book. He later worked in the Papua New Guinea Highlands as a coffee buyer and went on to gain his Pilot’s licence and begin his aeronautical career.
