Hello,
Yes,
they have finally arrived! They are
being unloaded at I write
this. Tony Bushby's second book *The
Secret in the Bible* has rolled
off the presses and has just been
delivered to us. Now begins the
task of fulfilling your orders and
shipping them out to you as fast
as possible. As promised, they will
be shipped airfreight. However,
it will still be a few more days before
it's at your door
depending on where you live.
I
have taken aside the three copies
from the first box that has
entered our store. They will be despatched
pronto to our three
winners of our recent "How My
Life Changed" contest...
*
Kristine Ingram from USA
* Vondell Smoak from Oregon, USA
* Michael Symonds from Tasmania, Australia
Congratulations
to these three! I know it was difficult
for the
judges to differentiate between so
many excellent entries and I
shall publish some of the stories
for you over the coming issues of
Joshua's Journal.
So
in this issue, we will start with
Kistine's story.
In
this issue, you will find a new category
entitled "Interesting
Links". There you will find links
to other sites which have
interesting articles or stories or
whatever which you should find
interesting. I suppose that's why
it's called what it is!
Now
on with this issue....

1) LITERATURE IS FREEDOM
Almost
a month ago during the Frankfurt Book
Fair, the Association
of German Publishers and Booksellers
awarded the Friedenspreis des
Deutschen Buchhandels (the Peace Prize
of the German Book Trade) to
American author Susan Sontag. Her
acceptance speech makes
interesting reading ….
"To
speak in the Paulskirche, before this
audience, to receive the
prize awarded in the last fifty-three
years by the German Book Trade
to so many writers, thinkers, and
exemplary public figures whom I
admire - to speak in this history-charged
place and on this occasion,
is a humbling and inspiring experience.
I can only the more regret
the deliberate absence of the American
ambassador, Mr. Daniel Coats,
whose immediate refusal, in June,
of the invitation from the
Booksellers Association, when this
year's Friedenspreis was
announced, to attend our gathering
here today, shows he is more
interested in affirming the ideological
stance and the rancorous
reactiveness of the Bush administration
than he is, by fulfilling a
normal diplomatic duty, in representing
the interests and reputation
of his - and my - country."

Here is a video camera showing you
live pictures of Sydney Harbour
with the Opera House on one side and
the Bridge on the other. What's
amazing is that you can control the
azimuth, elevation and zoom from
your own computer!

4) KRISTINE'S STORY
Kristine
Ingram is one of our three winners
of "How My Life Changed
After Reading The Bible Fraud"
contest. Here is her story...
"Before The Bible Fraud, I was
me, a born and bred New Englander
as
Protestant as so many New Englanders
before me. After The Bible
Fraud, I struggle with that illusion.
You
see, my mother and her brother always
told us, my cousins and
me, that the de Waltoff family was
lost to us. They were a bunch of
losers who had disowned my grandfather
for reasons obscure to me. We
should never seek them out. However,
I did seek out the name de
Waltoff on the Internet looking for
my uncle's son's website about
his art show. I never expected to
find anyone else with the name, but
find them I did. I found distant cousins
as incredulous to know me as
I to know them and, shock to us all,
my de Waltoff family was Jewish,
of Lithuanian (Russian) descent. My
whole Protestant Lutheran-
Congregational self image burst.
Then
my new found ninety-year-old cousin
told me that my long lost
great-grandfather was infamous for
finding a scroll in the Holy Land
that had debunked the New Testament.
I giggled and thought our being
of Jewish descent was enough of a
surprise, but to be related to a
man who helped debunk the Bible was
too much.
So
I hit the Internet again and raised
The Bible Fraud site and, lo
and behold, there was Dayve Boris
de Waltoff and his discovery of the
Safed or Mehgheehlla Scroll in 1882
in black and white on page 31.
My great-grandfather who I never knew
existed ten months ago is now
on my mind frequently. I wonder at
the irony that if my trusted
mother and uncle could conspire with
other relatives to hide our
Jewish background, could not the church
conspire to hide other
fundamentals from us all.
My
mother died this summer and I will
never be able to ask her why
she did as she did. But I can imagine
why the church must do as it
does... and so I am not just me, another
wasp from New England. I
have the blood of the Jewish-Brooklyn-physician-who-found-the-scroll-
that-debunks-the-Bible flowing in
my veins. If nothing else, my
background is not boring anymore!"
Congratulations
once again Kristine and keep a lookout
for your
special copy of *The Secret in the
Bible* in the mail.
