Maria Targett was born and raised in a small beach-front community in far North Queensland, Australia where even as a small child, she was taught to always respect nature. She came from a large family of cane farmers and fisherman, who are still operating in the area today, and her grandfather was a great story teller.

For many years, Maria worked for a publishing company in Sydney before starting a family. Her four children are all now fully grown. In her spare time, she writes, paints and illustrates all of her own books. She is a Reconnection Practitioner and is also involved in crystal healing and tarot readings. She has a small following for fortune telling in a tea cup—she actually prefers to use Turkish coffee, which is an old tradition passed down through her Greek heritage.

Having previously published a children’s book titled The Magical Crystal Garden and also being the inventor of a game called Success—Power of the Mind, Maria has written another highly acclaimed book for young children titled Chris Saves Mother Earth. She currently has two other projects in process—a children’s book titled Little Tommy Brown, The Naughtiest Boy In Town and a deck of children’s oracle cards titled Alphabet Oracle Cards.
