1) The Aussie Dollar and Book Sales
The Australian dollar is up in value against the USD and EURO yet again. This has led to Australia’s books and other products being expensive to buy in markets outside of our shores. The USD is kept low to assist recovery through export of US goods in my opinion.
Although Joshua Books are still getting sales from all over the world this situation has resulted in a downturn from overseas markets but thankfully sales from Australia are holding. There is little we can do about all this and as the cycles turn it will all change. We are constantly featuring specials for our newsletter readers and we hope the good prices we offer will go a long way to offsetting the price differentials. Please keep visiting our website on a regular basis to see what is new and to take up our promotional offers.
For example we are offering outstanding titles by Tony Bushby at very special prices on our website right now. I expect we will be inundated with orders. If you are in Australia please do not forget that you can now order direct from us by phoning our office on 07 5493 1700 and the special web prices will be passed on to you.
2) Books and Knowledge
As I reflect on my life’s experience and take stock of the lessons, setbacks and successes I invariably think of the many books that I have read and their influence along the way.
Now as the head of a publishing house, of course books still play a big part in my life but in a different way. Joshua Books has a role to play now as a bridge between authors and the public and we will continue to play that role without becoming “puppets” to any Matrix Masters as I call them.
Back to books that have influenced me though. I do not have a big library at home, in fact it is quite modest and contains books on those things that I am interested in: books that I still read and refer to on a regular basis as I seek information or knowledge. It is amazing how:
- Little has really changed as things are just said differently to reach a new generation.
- When I read something for the umpteenth time I still get a new message or understanding of the text.
- I really respect those talented authors who can teach us things and entertain us with their incredible use of words.
I feel that the written word speaks to us in a very personal way through books if we are experiencing the right book at the time. I have attended many workshops and lectures by prominent speakers and leaders in their fields and usually come away with a book so I can revisit the message later.
The publishing industry is undergoing massive change at this time, with e-readers and e-books for example, but for me nothing will replace a book that is edited, formatted, printed and bound as an ongoing source of knowledge and reference.
Revisit some of your own old books again and see exactly what they mean to you.
3) From My Mind
My son Joshua started his working life in a factory that makes surfboards here on the Sunshine Coast at the tender age of 14 years. He did this as well as attend school.
The guys he worked with were a bunch of typical aussies with little respect for the establishment. Josh came home one day laughing about a big sign on the wall of the factory that said:
Don’t vote for politicians as it only encourages them.
Seems like that is still good advice some 18 years on. No, wait a minute, it is even better advice now. Having said that, those who know me well will be aware of my political leanings and know that I do cast a vote in support of the principles I believe very strongly in.
I guess if you do not take a position then you should not complain when the tide of politics is not to your liking.

EVENTS
Queensland Australia
On Saturday 10th September (this coming Saturday) Joshua Books and I will be on Bribie Island promoting our books and other products at the Bribie Spiritual Fair. It starts around 9am so if you are in the area please drop in and say hello.
Next month we are doing a regional spiritual expo at Wamuran. I love these smaller local shows as the energies generated by the exhibitors and the public create a positive and loving experience for all who come along. They are generally annual events and the organisers put in so much effort to ensure a great day. Feel free to call us if you wish to know more about these events.

Below is an exercise Dottiedee came up with to help enhance life:
As babies we come into this world full of joy and happiness. What if, we could be that joyful and happy today, what would our day look like?
Use you imagination and write down 5 things that would make your day wonderful if you were as happy and joyful as a little child.
What if we could love ourselves as God loves us, what would this look like?

Take time to be careful in your choice of words in every situation. Words are things and they can impact others in a positive or negative way. Our whole reality has been created through the words and actions of others and so we can impact on the lives of those around us by what we say and do. Choose to create a positive ripple effect when we speak or write.
Often all it takes is to think before you speak or sometimes to say nothing at all if that is the correct action.
