Walk Thru My World is an outstanding collection of Australian stories written in verse and taken straight from life itself: Stories from the city to the outback and from our amazing history to modern day Australia.
Graham Perkins has woven together these stories for young and old in a uniquely humourous and compassionate way. His personal experiences with mates, colourful characters, criminals, fears and
struggles along life’s journey, have made a lasting impression.
Walk Thru My World will make you laugh and cry, inspire you to help others wherever you can, and live every day to it’s fullest!
Below is an excerpt from one of the poems (page 132)
KING
He was just a dog, not special
To anyone but me
For every waking moment
He’d be there by my knee.
For we grew up together
On a little outback farm
Together we near drove dad mad
But we never did no harm.
I found him one day on a road
As we followed our hungry sheep
I picked him up and took him home
For he was mind to keep.
Day by day I watched ‘King’ grow
‘Til he stood tall and bold
Why, he stood near as tall as me
And I was five years old.
‘Feed your dog before yourself’
That’s rule number one
‘Clean bed, fresh water every day
Don’t tie him in the sun.’
